I ask you, Emily Dickinson

Can a wreck be beautiful?

Yesterday I crashed. Old

Metal got a savage dent;

Still a wondrous vehicle

Within which Senex* rides--

What an accidental world!

A squirrel on the road

I didn't see and plunged

Into a ditch. You helped me out;

I leave behind a pool of oil,

Then this splendid, mortal wreck

Disappeared from sight.

'Senex' is Latin for Old Man. Senex is a stock  comic character in the plays of Seneca and Plautus.
